Last week OpenText introduced the world to Suite 16 and Cloud 16 at Enterprise World 2015 in Las Vegas. EIM leaders from around the world converged to get a head start in the digital world during this week long event.
What a difference a year can make. Last year at this time we were at Enterprise World in Orlando Florida validating our solution and introducing ourselves to the OpenText ecosystem. This year we arrived in Las Vegas enjoying the best selling debut ever for a 3rd party OpenText technology partner.
Our CEO Jason Cassidy was invited to be a part of the Partner Session keynote that featured talks hosted by Deloitte, Ricoh and Accenture. Some pretty hefty company but our story really resonated with the crowd. We talked about that moment when we signed on with OpenText and how our perceptions collided with reality. It’s tempting to just sit back and expect the sales to come rolling in but we quickly found the responsibility was still ours to generate leads, help close sales and hustle, hustle, hustle. We had more than a few partners come up and thank Jason for his frank words instead of using the platform to simply push product.
Of course an event like this provides an incredible opportunity to meet with the larger OpenText ecosystem. While there are no real barriers to communicating with folks around the world in this connected age, nothing can replace the engagement that comes with face-to-face meetings.
And of course it’s always gratifying to talk to OpenText customers looking for opportunities to simplify their implementations, eliminate shared drives and connect their disparate ECM solutions with Shinydrive. Compliance was a big concern shared by many customers struggling to rein in siloed repositories.
And finally, we even managed to give away 5 $100 poker chips to a lucky few that came by the booth. We explained that you could simply take the chip to the cashier and exchange it for cash but I’m still waiting to hear from one of our winners that let it ride on the roulette wheel.
