It’s the Frankenstack - the growing mass of legacy ECMs and disparate Line of Business applications you’re forced to content with. Hard enough in a static environment, but with mergers, changing regulatory legislation, and maturing information governance practices it’s become a nearly impossible beast. According to research from Forrester, only 28% of IT investment is going towards innovation while old technology consumes the lions share. Considering the rate of technological change it’s making it even harder for IT departments to stay relevant.

The enterprise needs to consolidate information to a single records managed solution with minimal disruption to the end user. That means any solution that requires extensive training or significant changes to user behaviour is going to be met with fierce resistance. Traditionally this has demanded a top down organizational mandate to push initiatives through. But this is an over-managed, heavy handed approach that, if history is any indication, rarely works.

What’s your strategy to dismantle legacy systems and kill outdated infrastructures? How are you planning to address directives to move information to the cloud and corral your records into compliance. How do you plan on driving this change through your organization? It’s time you starting formulating your strategic plan before this monster gets away from you.
